Following up from my blog on in March about the proposal to develop the old Woolworths warehouse on the intersection of Stafford and South Pine Roads, it looks like there has been some headway for Woolworths to come into Everton Park, but not where we thought it would be.
The North West Plaza on Flockton Street was bought last week and reports are that there could be works starting on the $38 million refurbishment as soon as June 2011. A Woolworths in this location will prove difficult for the existing supermarket type businesses in the complex, but will potentially lure more people to the complex enhancing traffic for other businesses. It seems it could be a bitter sweet development for local business owners.
Personally I think the site of the old Woolworths warehouse behind Harvey Norman would be more suitable. What do you think?
