One of Brisbane’s biggest running events, the Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane, is coming up in September, but before then there is another fun run that some of Brisbane residents may not have heard of yet.

The Queensland Rail Classic fun run is a new fun run starting this year, being organised by Queensland Rail to help raise much needed funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The Queensland Rail Classic is only 5km, so it’s something that the entire family can participate in and it will provide a nice warm up event for those who are planning on racing in this year’s Bridge to Brisbane.

The route for the event will take participants through TransLink’s Northern Busway, which will be closed for the event. At the finish line participants can expect a fun day out, with food, entertainment and attractions waiting for them.

The Queensland Rail Classic will be held at 8.30am on August 21, starting at the Roma Street Parklands on the Celebration Lawn.

If you would like to take part, make sure that you get in quick though because the event is only open to the first 3000 people who sign up.
