Are you in need a post-Easter detox?

Fresh vegetable mixIn the weeks following big celebrations like Christmas and Easter it’s only natural that we put on a few kilos and perhaps do a little less exercise than we’d like.  This can often lead to feelings of guilt and a dip in confidence, which may even result in more time spent indoors hiding away on the couch or with a hand continually reaching for the comfort foods in the pantry.

If this sounds like you, here are our top tips for regaining your zest after the onslaught of chocolate bunnies at Easter:

  • Clean out your pantry.  Removing the junk food and half eaten Easter eggs will start you on your road to a healthy revival.
  • Replenish with energy foods.  Replace the sugary foods with healthy fruit and vegetables.  Buy enough for a few days so that you’ll have no excuse to snack on anything but a handful of sweet strawberries or crunchy apple.
  • Cooking up a large pot of vegetable soup and freezing it in portions is a great way to avoid take-away on those nights you just can’t be bothered preparing a meal from scratch.  Simply heat up the portions you need and enjoy!
  • Turn the television, PC and iPad off!  We’re all probably guilty of being a little driven by technology these days; it’s often our means of relaxation, entertainment, socialisation and communication.  But the world won’t fall apart if we turn them off for a while, head outdoors, and go for a walk, jog, bike ride, or kick of the footy.  And trust us, you’ll feel so much better for having had the break!

Okay, so it’s not exactly brain surgery, but we thought it would be a good time to share a few healthy living ideas for those who are yet to recover from their Easter indulgence and perhaps need the extra nudge in the right direction.

If you have any healthy living tips, or if you know of any great Everton Park exercise groups or classes, please share them with us here.
