It’s hard to think about much else right now except for the Queensland floods, and the crazy events we have all been experiencing over the past week.
A lot of Queenslanders have been going through some very tough times and I want to send out my deepest sympathies from myself and the Keith Brady Real Estate office to all of those who have been affected by these recent events.
What has amazed me over this time though is the generous spirit being shown by Queenslanders as we all try and help our flood victims clean up the mess. There were more volunteers than needed, simply because everyone wanted to pitch in and help our state return to the beautiful place we know it to be.
Sure there have been reports of looting and other disturbing behaviour, but these stories have been far outweighed by stories of generosity and an eagerness to lend a hand. Volunteering QLD alone received over 60,000 offers of help, not to mention everyone calling family and friends to find out where help was needed.
A lot of homes have now been cleaned up as good as they can be, and life is starting to return back to normal, at least here in Brisbane, but it will still take a while for a lot of Queensland homes and business to return to how they were.
Let’s hope that the rebuilding stage doesn’t take too long, and that many homes and businesses return to their original state as soon as they can.
