The Everton Park community is currently split as to whether or not a proposed Woolworths supermarket should be built in the suburb.
Major retailers such as Bunnings and Westfield groups, along with other businesses in the area, have made submissions against the recent Woolworths development. Reasons given against the development include issues such as increased traffic, impacts on the local economy and on local businesses.
But could a Woolworths in Everton Park also be good for local business? Apparently $3 out of every $5 of food and grocery spending is done outside of the area, so a Woolworths could potentially bring profits back into Everton Park and encourage shoppers to stay and buy in the local area.
The Everton Park Woolworths development has been proposed for the site at the old Woolworths warehouse, at the intersection of Stafford and South Pine Roads, Everton Park (so not far from the Keith Brady Real Estate office).
So far it seems to have been mainly businesses in the area who have raised their hands to have a say on the issue, but what do local residents think?
Do you live in Everton Park or surrounds, and if so would you like a Woolworths in the area?
