First it was parks and trains and now it seems that Everton Park residents may be able to enjoy free wifi on local buses too!
The Brisbane City Council has just started a three-month trial which will see two Translink buses provide free wireless internet for its passengers.
The new scheme is being sponsored by brisbanetimes.com.au and the wifi buses will be used for various routes around the north and south side of the city, so that everybody has a chance to use the buses and take up the opportunity to use the free wifi.
If a lot of people use the wifi on offer than there is a good chance that the trial will be extended and that we will eventually see more buses with wifi access around Brisbane.
As technology improves though and becomes more affordable, it is hoped that the Brisbane City Council will eventually be able to offer more free, internet services available in public spaces in Brisbane.
The wifi buses are already operational and they will be running until January 28 unless the trial is extended.
What do Everton Park residents think of the free wifi access on Brisbane buses? If you catch one of the buses will you be using the free internet?
