Did you know that if you live in Everton Park you’re eligible for a green waste bin?
Green waste bins are on offer for all households in the Brisbane City Council and they offer an easy and affordable way for people to dispose of ‘green materials’ such as lawn clippings, prunings and leaves.
Green waste bins are similar to the Council’s general waste and recycling bins; however they have a bright green lid. The bins are collected fortnightly and taken to a recycling facility where the green waste is chipped, stabilised and aged so that it’s ready for re-use.
For the month of October, the Brisbane City Council is offering a special discounted rate for green waste bins. The Council usually charges a $30 establishment fee, however this is being waived until after October 31.
There is a quarterly rate charge of $17.28 for use of the green waste bin, however the bins may help you save money on extra waste costs, as it is likely to help free up your general waste bin.
If you’re interested in getting a green waste bin for your home, you can find out all about them at the Brisbane City Council website.
We’re interested to hear from residents who already have green waste bins – do you find them useful?
