Keeping our neighbourhoods safe from violence and destruction stemming from out of control suburban parties is a top priority. So new laws have been introduced to protect families, prevent property damage, and make sure police time and resources are used appropriately. Under the laws, those organising parties at their homes that become out of control events, and people who cause a party to become out of control, face hefty fines or jail time with a maxium penalty of 12 months jail or $12,100 fine. People who are not at fault when a party gets out of control are still protected if they take reasonable steps to keep the party in control.
