What You Need To Know For Election Day

It’s only a couple more days until Election Day, and while I don’t want to get into party politics, I thought I would post some important information that you will need to know for the day.

When: Election polling places will be open on Saturday the 21st of August from 8am to 6pm

Where: Polling booths are normally found at local schools, churches and public halls. To find out which electorate you belong to visit http://apps.aec.gov.au/esearch/. If you live in Everton Park you are either in the electorate of Brisbane or Lilley.

What to do when you get there: If you haven’t voted before don’t worry it’s pretty straight-forward. When you get to your polling place there will be a polling official on hand who will direct you to a ballot paper issuing officer. They will confirm who you are and mark you off as voted.

Once your name has been ticked off you will be issued with your ballot papers. With your ballot papers in hand head over to a polling booth where you can vote.

After you have finished voting you will need to place your votes in the ballot boxes. Remember you will get one ballot paper to vote in the House of Representatives and one for the Senate and these are to be placed in their corresponding ballot boxes.

Once you’ve finished voting you can get on with your day, or go and watch the election decision unfold.

Hope you all have a great Election Day!
