No matter where we are now, whether we’re in the office or on the road, it is becoming increasingly important to always have internet access.

If you find yourself in the city and want to get on the internet though, soon you will be able to hook up to free wifi in some of Brisbane’s parks starting from December this year.

The Brisbane City Council is trialling the new initiative to help provide free internet access in public spaces.

The first parks with wifi access will be the City’s Botanic Gardens on Alice Street and New Farm Park on Brunswick Street New Farm.

I think it is a great idea to help keep the community connected, and also a great way to help encourage the community to chill out in the park, while studying or doing some work perhaps.

Before the new wifi park hotspots become available in Brisbane however here is a list of some current wifi hotspots to check out (feel free to suggest more):
  • Brisbane City Council Libraries
  • McDonald’s
  • Urban Grind in New Farm
  • Brisbane Airtrain (available at the domestic and international airport platforms)
  • Brisbane Powerhouse
  • Limited access on Brisbane CityCats
