With Everton Park being one of the few suburbs unaffected by the floods, we have had a lot of people showing interest in moving to the area – whether that be to buy or to rent. But if you have just started looking what is the best way to go about your property search?

Here are a couple of the most common property search strategies in Everton Park:

  • Looking Online – Most people start their property hunt online, and why wouldn’t you? You will find just about every property on the market by doing some quick online searches, and it’s easy to narrow down your search based on your specific property criteria. Some great websites for property searches include www.realestate.com.au, www.domain.com.au and our own www.kbre.com.au. While searching online is easy and convenient though, you should always view a property in real life before making the decision to purchase or rent it.
  • Checking the papers – Those who aren’t internet or computer savvy are more likely to flick through newspapers to find their next home. The biggest drawback from using newspapers as a search tool however is that unless a property is featured it generally doesn’t offer many (if any) pictures and it is harder to find out specific details.
  • Driving By – House hunters who know the area they’re looking to buy or rent in generally have a drive around the area to scope out the type of properties they’re interested in. This is a great way to get a feel for an area, but don’t use this method alone to find homes, as you could be missing out on all of the properties that don’t have “for sale” sign on the front lawn.
  • Talking to Real Estate Agents – A lot of home buyers find their dream home through the recommendations of their local real estate agent. Real estate agents have a wealth of knowledge about properties in the area, so it makes sense to talk to them, to see if they have any properties that are just right for you.
  • A Combination – Different house hunting strategies will work differently for everyone, but if you want to make sure you don’t miss out on any great properties it helps to cast a wide net. So have a look online and in the newspapers. Talk to real estate agents and visit open homes on the weekends. If you keep your finger on the property pulse then it is only a matter of time before you find the home that is just right for you.
