Buying your first home, or even your second or third, comes with a lot of decision-making. You need to figure out where to purchase, what to purchase, and then find out what is available and if it’s in your price range.
I’ve found that the easiest way to help you decide which property is best for you is to make two separate lists – an essentials list and a desirables list.
The essentials list is for everything you MUST have in your next property. Do you need a certain number of bedrooms or maybe an ensuite? If you do then write it down and make sure you don’t compromise on these items.
On the desirables list write down all of those things that you would like to have but don’t necessarily need. For instance you might like a tennis court and a swimming pool at your new home, but these probably aren’t a need. Your desirables list might also include features that you can add in yourself.
Once you have your lists made, hand them over to your real estate agent so they have a good idea of what properties you’re looking for.
You’ll be surprised at how well these lists will be able to save you time in your property search and give you an easy way to evaluate properties that you’ve short-listed.
