kids in circleThe UK National Trust have just released their top 50 activities all children should experience before the age of 11 3/4, and as our Professionals Keith Brady Real Estate team like to remain young at heart we though it appropriate to share the list and give you some ideas for entertaining the kids over the coming months.

  • Climb a huge hill

For the young tracker

  • Hunt for bugs
  • Catch a falling leaf
  • Discover what’s in a pond or rock pool
  • Catch a crab
  • Go on a nature walk at night

For the young explorer

  • Plant it, grow it, eat it

  • Swim in the sea
  • Find your way with a map and compass

Did you pick up the common link?  They’re all outdoor activities!  That’s right, they’re all great fun for kids under 12, and none of them involve video games, televisions or iPods.  While a few of these may be better suited to a summer climate, many of these are achievable in autumn… And these aren’t even half of the ideas on the UK National Trust’s list!  For the full list of 50 activities please visit https://www.50things.org.uk/

If you don’t think your children would like these activities, feel free to come up with some of your own.  It can be anything from climbing a tree to chasing butterflies, keep it simple and let your children’s natural curiosity guide them.  Here in Everton Park we’re incredibly lucky to have fantastic outdoor spaces – there’s the ever popular Teralba Park and Fallon Park just to name a couple.  So turn off the telly and send your kids out for some fun and adventure.

Think back to when you were young… what was it that gave you joy?
